My Journey

Hello, I'm Vicki

Birth has been woven through my life for many years. My journey to becoming a doula is rooted not only in my training, but in my own experiences of motherhood, loss, resilience and supporting others through some of life's most vulnerable moments.

Long before I became a doula, I found myself drawn to supporting women during birth. At just thirteen years old, I was my mum's birth partner as she welcomed my youngest sibling into the world. Years later, I supported my sister through the births of her four children, and shortly after becoming a mother myself, I stood beside my best friend as she welcomed her baby.

Looking back now, I can see how much those experiences shaped me. They showed me the strength women can find within themselves during birth, but also how much it matters to have someone beside you who is calm, reassuring and completely in your corner.

My own experiences of motherhood and loss have shaped the way I support families today. They've given me a deep appreciation for compassionate, respectful and individualised care, particularly during times when pregnancy and birth may feel emotionally complex.

Pregnancy after loss is an area of support especially close to my heart. I understand that hope and excitement can sit alongside fear and uncertainty, and that there should be space for all of those feelings.

In 2025, I trained as a trauma-informed doula with Conscious Birthing, giving me the opportunity to bring together my life experiences and my desire to support others. Alongside my doula work, I volunteer with Doulas Without Borders, supporting women and families who may be facing particularly challenging circumstances.

Before becoming a doula, I spent more than fourteen years working in roles centred around supporting people. Those years reinforced something I have always believed: how we make people feel during vulnerable moments matters.

As your doula, I won't tell you what your birth should look like.

I'll walk alongside you, offering evidence-based information, emotional reassurance, practical support and a calm, steady presence.

Whether you're preparing for your first baby, growing your family, carrying difficult experiences from a previous birth, or navigating pregnancy after loss, I want you to feel that your story matters here.

My hope is that however your birth unfolds, you feel heard, respected, cared for and supported.

It would be a privilege to walk alongside you.

My Promise to You

I promise to listen without judgement, respect your choices and provide clear, evidence-based information so you can make the decisions that feel right for you and your family.

I won't pretend to have all the answers. If I don't know something, I'll be honest and I'll help you find reliable, evidence-based information or point you towards the right place to get the answer.

I will bring a calm, compassionate and reassuring presence, creating space for your voice to be heard and for you to feel involved in the decisions surrounding your care.

I will honour the experiences you bring with you, whether this is your first pregnancy, a pregnancy after loss, or a journey shaped by a previous birth.

And if plans change, my support won't.

Every pregnancy, every birth and every family is unique. I won't tell you what your birth should look like. I'll walk beside you with kindness, respect and unwavering support.

My hope is that whatever your journey brings, you feel safe, heard and cared for.

Vicki 🤍
